I am a resident in the UK and planning a short visit to Sri Lanka in May 2008. Also thought it would be a unique experience to visit Velankanni Church while I am in that neck of the woods, as I am a devoted Catholic. Could someone help me out planning my journey from Sri Lanka (Colombo int. Air Port) to Velankanni, through the shortest travel time as possible, with the minimum hassel, as I am a foreigner not quite familiarized with the indian transport system..

Many Thanks

From Colombo, you can take a direct flight to Trichy or Trichirapally (both are the same place) in Tamil Nadu, India. From Trichy, it is just 150 kms to velankanni.

Accomodation facility is available in Trichy - Comfort as per your budget. Famina is one of the standard hotels there. Next day, earlymorning take a cab from trichy to velankanni and you can return on the same day for stay in Trichy.

The distance is just 150 kms means, 3 hrs journey by cab. An air conditioned cab may charge you Rs.8.00 per km.

visit http://www.vailankannichurch.org/locate.htm to know the exact location of vailankanni.

From Sri Lanka you can come to Tiruchirapalli by air, which is the shortest distance from Sri Lanka.

From Tiruchirapalli to Velankanni lot of government and private buses are plying and approximately it will take 4 hours. There is a train from Tiruchirapalli to Tiruvarur also and velankanni is 1.30 hours travel from Tiruvarur. you have a good hotel to stay at Tiruvarur also.

surely no longer! it is authentic user-friendly. SL has all the right to chosen whoever the captain they opt for. And that changed into what precisely they did. It changed into properly interior the regulations. If SL did something thoroughly unorthodox alongside with giving the captaincy to someone like Thirimanne to make confident that if there turned right into a suspension, no suitable participant changed into gonna be a sufferer then that ought to were thoroughly adversarial to the sportsmanship of the game. yet they did not attempt this. therefore, changed into there a suspension nevertheless Sl would have ignored Sangakkara yet another suitable participant. So a wise pass without breaking the sportsmanship of the game.
